Am I ready?
This was a question that I had pondered on this time last year when I was unsure whether to join IIM Indore or not. In hindsight, I would thank my past self for taking the challenge right on and deciding to join. My first year at Planet-I, though it was just for 6 months due to the pandemic, has been a roller-coaster ride with tight deadlines, hectic academic schedules, quizzes, End-terms and late-night parties. The quote,
“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity “
has never been more relevant to me in my life. That being said, I have been fortunate to make some really amazing friends, many of whom have been the most inspiring and smartest people I’ve met in my life. I can now proudly say that I’ve found my Hogwarts at Planet-I and the people to enjoy it with.
I interned at American Express during the Summer of2021 and was involved in a project which is planned to be implemented in the next few months in the firm. It was a pleasure to be able to work on a project which is a central part of AmEx’s business. I’ve had a lot of support from my team at Amex in understanding the project at a granular level and planning an approach to meet my objectives. In the first month of my internship, I’ve had to undergo a steep learning curve to acquire the data handling and manipulation skills necessary for the project. The second half of the internship revolved around performing critical analyses and extracting key insights from them. As I near the end of my summer internship at American Express, I believe that one should always be willing to re-skill themselves to be relevant in the rapidly changing business environment in India.
